What is the Black Professionals of LA Photo Project about?

The Black Professional community in Los Angeles is a rich resource that needs more exposure and recognition. This project aims to provide a service to the community (business headshots at a discount price) while highlighting the network and aiming to inspire and inform. The project will be published on LinkedIn, Instagram and via OnTay Photo’s Website. The aim is to have a massive visual of hundreds of headshots of LA professionals.

Clean, crisp and well-lit headshots are an artistic visual that appeals to many but their stories and experiences add a substance that many will find relatable and intriguing. If you’re a black professional who needs a new LinkedIn headshot or a headshot for your website or any other business endeavor and you’re willing to share your story, some insight or at least have your headshot featured on one of the mediums we publish on then please join the photo project.

FAQ

What’s considered a “professional”? Do I qualify?

Normally, it’s considered doctors, lawyers and etc., along with people working in the corporate world. I personally, believe anyone who has a demonstrated skill and offers their services whether as an entrepreneur or as an employee can be a professional. This could be a chef, a coffee-shop owner/manager or a mechanic but it could also be a full-time student who has aspirations, or a sanitation worker who has years of experience in that role. I’m not bougie about the term. This project will seek to explore definitions of what a professional is but I’m opening it up to more than what’s considered a professional by the status quo.

How can I pay?

In order to book, you must pay via my site or contact me and you can Venmo or apple pay me. In order to ensure and lessen schedule conflicts, I request payment be made before the shoot.

Where do you shoot?

Tuesday - Friday I can come to your place of work so long as it’s within LA County or you can come to my home studio. I shoot out of my home studio exclusively on Sunday’s as more people tend to schedule on this day.

Do I have to say anything to be in this project?

No, but for the discounted rate, you must allow me to post your headshot, name and position on the mediums I publish on. I do offer LinkedIn headshots outside of the project for $99 for just the 15 minute session.

I need more than just a headshot, do you offer other services?

My employees/coworkers need headshots too, do you shoot more than individuals?

No doubt! Contact me at info@ontayphotos.com and we’ll hash out the details. And unless it’s fitting, they will not be included in the project.

What are you going to do after you finish the project?

If I’m not burnt out (LOL), I’ll travel to 10-20 other us cities and do something similar (over a shorter time frame of course). I plan on having one for all of the LA Participants once we’re finished or maybe even before.
